To bring together social workers and communities in action to build a just and equitable society where Black people can thrive free of oppression, fear, and violence
In 2016, a group of social work students drafted a list of demands to the CSSW administration to mitigate racism, marginalization, and bias in the school. Building upon the work of the 2016 student organizers as well as parallel student organizing efforts, we aim to ensure that CSSW and all entities of Columbia University take concrete actions to 1) address its own history of violence against Black and Indigenous communities and 2) support its Black students, faculty, staff, and alumni. In support of these ends, we have created our own student-run action hub. To stay up to date on our work and support our efforts, please visit us there.
